evolutionary history, biogeography, and systematics of birds
Michael J. Andersen, PhD
Associate Professor and Associate Chair, Department of Biology
Curator of Genomic Resources and Associate Curator of Birds, Museum of Southwestern Biology
Welcome to the Andersen Lab at the University of New Mexico. We study the evolutionary history, biogeography, and systematics of birds.
The Andersen Lab believes that Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with all Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color in support of anti-racism. We acknowledge that institutionalized racism is pervasive in our society and within academia and that this reality has made equity, diversity, and inclusion of BIPOC difficult. We believe that a diverse group of people creates an exciting and more creative atmosphere in which to learn. We commit to promoting diversity and anti-racist policies in this lab as we strive to build a welcoming, safe, and equitable community in which anyone can do science.
